Waco, Texas- the home of HGTV stars Chip and Joanna Gaines, along with Baylor University. The quaint college town has transformed into a tourist mecca for fans of the HGTV show Fixer Upper. We stayed for three days, hitting the iconic Fixer Upper sites, Fixer Upper houses, and some local joints.

After arriving late we went to In & Out, a west coast classic that was a special treat for us Midwesterners. We walked along the Waco bridge (it was across from our hotel) after we got back. It was fun but way too dark for pictures.

In heading to Magnolia, we got there pretty early to avoid the crowds. Parking was plentiful in the back, both on the street and in the parking lot. In getting there at 9:45, there was already a pretty long line to get into the store, and a line around the corner for the bakery. We went into the store, and then went to the bakery after. It was PACKED by 10:30. In retrospect, we should've gone earlier and back to the food trucks, grabbed breakfast, and then gone to the store, then the bakery. Anyways, it was great. We headed to the bakery. When you're standing in line, they come out and hand you an ordering card, then let a select number of people in at a time. Must haves from the bakery: chive biscuit and the sugar cookies. Both were outstanding.

After the bakery, we headed back to the Seed & Supply store (they have the Magnolia stickers back there!), along with some great photo opportunities. We then walked around the rest of the grounds and watched kids play and drank some coffee. Since we ate late, we had a while before we would be hungry for lunch so we headed to Spice Village.

Spice Village (213 Mary Ave) was a collection of fun little shops all in one big warehouse style room. It was fun if you need some time to kill but not a must see.

We headed back to Magnolia to eat at the food trucks. Most of us ate at the Co-Town Crepe truck, but a few went to the Club Sandwich (Asian) truck. Both were great! Most of the more "fun" food trucks were closed because it was winter/cold. The Cheddar Box (gourmet grilled cheese looked amazing but the line was so long).

After that we headed to some Fixer Upper houses,

  • two story home {corner of 20th Street and Gorman Avenue}

  • Bean stalk bungalow {corner of 28th Street and Gorman}

  • First house {Castle Avenue and Chateau Avenue in Waco}

  • Hillcrest Estate {3601 Hillcrest Dr, Waco, Texas, 76708}

  • German Schmear House {5517 Lake Highlands Drive Waco, TX 76710}

  • Mid mod house {2517 Wooded Acres Waco, TX, 76710}

  • Mailander house {1403 N 5th st, Waco, TX 76707}

  • Chip and Joanna Gaine's house- {10095 Hwy 6, Crawford, TX 76638}

We then headed to Common Grounds, a cute little coffee shop {1123 S 8th St, Waco, TX 76706}, which is right off of Baylor's campus.

We went to Torchy's Tacos for dinner, a fun Texas taco restaurant.

The next morning we headed to the Farmer's Market, and had some AMAZING biscuits and gravy from a cute little stand.

We then headed to Harp Design Co. and shopped around for a while. We didn't expect to love it as much as we did, but it was adorable.

As we were heading out, we remembered we wanted to go see some of the cute walls, so we did. These two are right next to each other at 217 S. 4th St.

We headed down to Austin after this!
